Outdoor activities in the High Coast region

Hiking in the Höga Coasts

From Docksta it is possible to make various day hikes. Furthermore, there are several hiking areas in the area within 30 minutes drive.

Skuleberget

Skuleberget is the highest mountain on the High Coast and is about a kilometer away from our apartments. You can reach the top via a variety of hiking routes for every level, but also via the Via Ferrata. Depending on the chosen route, reaching the top takes between 1 and 2.5 hours. Whichever route you choose, your effort will always be rewarded with a majestic view over Skuleskogen and the Dockstafjärden and perhaps also with a visit to the café

Toppstuga.

Work is currently underway on a completely new chairlift to the top of Skuleberget, which is expected to be completed in the summer season of 2022.

Skuleskogen national park

Nowhere else than in Skuleskogen National Park you can see so clearly how the High Coast has risen from the sea. High mountains, ancient forests, mountain lakes and rivers and always the proximity of the sea make a visit to this park a unique experience.

The south entrance of the Skuleskogen National Park is about 3 km drive from the village. There is a large parking lot and in the summer it is also possible to use a shuttle bus to the entrance of the park. Various hiking trails are indicated in the park, including those to the Slåttdalsskrevan gorge. The walk to the gorge is about 4 km long. If you walk back via the coastal route, this total walk takes about 4 hours. All routes in Skuleskogen involve some climbs and are on rocky paths, good walking shoes and a reasonable level of fitness are recommended.
Höga Kustenleden

Looking for a bigger challenge? Then choose to walk (part of) the Höga Kustenleden. This 160 km long walking route runs from the Höga Kusten bridge to the center of Örnsköldsvik and is completely marked. You can spend the night at campsites, in huts or in a tent in nature. From Docksta you can also choose a part of this route, in a few days straight through Skuleskogen to Köpmansholmen for example. You can spend the night in various huts in the park, but keep in mind that these are quite popular in the high season.
