The High Coast also has a lot to offer in winter. The temperatures can drop considerably and a lot of snow is almost guaranteed, but the sun is also regularly visible. Grill a sausage on a natural wood fire and then come back to towm for a steaming cup of hot chocolate in our café. Welcome to the winter paradise!

Winter activities

In Skuleskogen National Park and on Skuleberget it is possible to hike with snowshoes in winter. In February, multi-day walking tours through the park are organized where you spend the night in a tent.

Snowshoes can be rented from Naturkompaniet in Själevad and Friluftsfrämjandet in Härnösand

We can arrange a snowscooter tour for you through the forests of Västernorrland.

In the area there are various possibilities for making a sled dog trip. We are happy to advise you and can also book this for you.

Near the village there is an illuminated cross-country ski track that is freely accessible. In addition, a beautiful larger area with groomed cross-country tracks is half an hour’s drive away. There are also cross-country skiing opportunities with and without lighting in other villages in the area.
There are currently no rental options for cross-country skiing equipment in the immediate vicinity, so you must bring your own equipment for this. If you don’t have any equipment and you still want to go cross-country skiing, you can rent equipment in Sollefteå (Hallstaberget, approx. 80 km from Docksta).

The ski area on Skuleberget is currently closed due to the construction of the new chair lift. There are several other ski slopes in the area: Bjästabacken (20 km)Åsbacken Örnsköldsvik (37 km)Latbergsbacken Kramfors (49 km) , Hallstaberget Sollefteå (80 km), Solbergsbacken (110 km). They are all fairly modest ski areas, but almost all have a catering facility and ski rental.

Ice fishing is possible on the frozen lakes. We are happy to help arrange an ice fishing package, for example in combination with a snowmobile or dog sled ride.

Visiting a match of the local pride Modo in the Fjällräven arena in Örnsköldsvik is a fun experience. Tickets are very affordable and it can’t get any more Swedish! We are happy to book for you.

Skating on natural ice is the most natural thing in the world here. Right in front of our apartments is the village’s floodlit ice hockey rink, which is free for everyone. Natural ice is also omnipresent elsewhere in the area, depending on the circumstances, you can also skate there.
At Bäckfjärden in Örnsköldsvik, an approximately 3 km long ice rink is plowed every year for the public to ride. You can board from the lido of Nyänget and Sommarhemmet. A small ice rink for puck and club games and games is also available at the Nyänget lido. There is also a shelter and a table where you can grill and enjoy your own coffee.
More information and status of the ice rink can be found here.
A guided mountain bike tour through the snowy landscape is a unique experience. Polarcloud offers these tours and you can enjoy modern mountain bikes with electric pedal assistance with them so that it is possible for everyone to enjoy them.
